The City of Remerton Municipal Court is one of over 400 courts in the Georgia Judicial System. Our jurisdiction is limited to misdemeanor offenses of shoplifting of $500 or less, possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), and traffic offenses (including DUI). Our court also adjudicates violations of local ordinances including zoning and parking offenses.
Municipal Court has the right and power to conduct non-jury trials, receive guilty pleas, and impose sentence, in the manner required by law. Sentences handed down by this court are limited to 12 months confinement and a fine up to $1,000 per offense. However, sentences for multiple charges may run consecutively to one another or consecutively to another case. These sentences may also be served on probation.
