Debt Service Fee
Customers will notice a charge called "debt service fee". The City incurred debt for replacing the sewer lift station located at 1200 Melody Lane. To pay back this debt, council approved implementing a debt service fee of $3.10 per month to each bill for 24 months for repayment towards the short-term loan issued.
Commercial Customers
Commercial customers will pay the same rates per thousand gallons as residential customers with the addition of REU billing. Our utilities department recently conducted an audit of every commercial property within the City of Remerton to determine occupancy type, hours of operation, seating arrangements, number of bathrooms, square footage, etc. All this information is put into a formula to determine the number of REU's an establishment will be billed for.

Bill Adjustments for leaks
Effective April 1, 2024, the City only applies credits to your utility bill for wastewater only. Water usage is not able to be credited, unless your bill has an error made on behalf of the City during the billing process.
For adjustments to your bill for a leaking toilet, busted water line, etc. you may only receive an adjustment for sewer usage only with an invoice from an licensed plumber showing that the issues were resolved. The City will average your last 6 months bills to determine the adjustment to be made. Adjustments will only be made once in a twelve month period.
